My 5 favourite hair products I can’t live without in my kit and personally right now

1.      Evy Professional, Boss Hairdryer

I have had the Evy Boss hairdryer for years and absolutely love it, but recently upgraded to the lastest design and have to say it is so light to hold and way more powerful! My husband even commented about both of those factors when he picked it up to dry our daughters hair. (Ironic that the hairstylist doesn’t dry their kids hair, I know lol).

2.      Mamako, Strength Mask

This is one of those masks that both repairs and strengthens the hair and gives it the most beautiful soft feeling afterwards. Although super nourishing it doesn’t feel heavy on the hair making it great for a quick or extended treatment. I even slick my hair back with it and leave it hours before rinsing.

3.      Moroccan Oil, Dry Texture Spray

This product is such a staple in my kit. I love the powerful dusts as much as the next stylist, but sometimes finer hair types, and certain styles can be overwhelmed by them. Insert Dry Texture Spray into these situations and we have the perfect solution. I love it on my hair also when I want some added texture to a blow wave or up-style but don’t want to have to wash it too soon.

4.      KYK, Tame Me

Tame me is one of my personal summer staples. Great for slicking hair back and sticking down all of those fly aways to give a modern clean finish. I use it on my eyebrows too to keep them looking groomed all day.

5.      Milkshake, Let it Shine

Hands down my favourite shine product. It’s light weight giving the most beautiful, natural looking shine. The smell is so good too, I don’t think I have ever used it on a client and them not comment on the scent. Delicious!

The podcasts that have been filling my ears the past few months

I personally love a mix of biz development, self-development and gripping crime stories.

1.      Casefile

I’m actually embarrassed to share just how many episodes of casefile I have listened to. It started off listening to crime podcasts for awareness to increase safety in everyday situations, and now just continues as an interest. It’s really well researched and spoken factually without opinions and this is my vibe.

2.      Dr Becky, Good Inside

This is a parenting podcast. I really like Dr Becky’s approach and case studies they feel really actionable. She also comes from a place of being a mum with a great understanding and empathy for us regular mums giving super helpful advice without shaming us all in the process!

3.      Goal Digger

This one is by Jenna Kutcher. I love her story, and the way she presents her content. So many actionable biz marketing tips, tricks and ideas to take away too.

4.      The Jasmine Star Show

I love this one for business operations and content creation inspiration. I also like that there’s a variety of episode lengths, so there’s always something available on my long walks or short drives.. Inspo whenever I need.

5.      The imperfects

I love this one on the long drives to weddings. 3 guys talking about all things self-development along with fabulous guests who may seem perfect from the outside but soon bust that myth by sharing challenges they have faced and how they have overcome them. I like the humor and humility equally in this one. Definitely a good listen.

What’s your favourite listen at the moment?

 Currently obsessed with

I am having a moment of being obsessed with little inexpensive tools to make my content creation more professional and seamless. Here are some of the tools I’ve been playing around with.

1.      Iphone stand

I love this small, light weight yet sturdy stand. I have actually never found a stand I have really liked before.

I’m goldilocks when it comes to stands, honestly - they have either been too flimsy, not tall enough, not flexible enough to do overhead shots or just annoying to use. I’ve found it this time! Reading through hundreds of reviews paid off this time!

2.      Pop voice pro lavalier microphone

We know clear audio on our videos is important, this is why we see every second creator walking around with a microphone these days.

I have had the Rhode Me mics for a while now and love the way they work however I don’t always want the square box clipped to the front of me so I found a super cost effective yet quality option for my situation and also anyone who needs a mic. This one you can either clip onto your top collar or stick discreetly on the inside of your shirt with what are called microphone stickies.

3.      Sandisk hard drive for iphone

Surely I’m not the only on that struggles with phone storage. It’s like a handbag, the more space you have the more you use. This is awesome because it plugs straight into your phone, almost like an extension making it easy to store content and just as easy to access at any given moment.

4.      Latest Limage mannequin

I love the Limage mannequins. They are realistic, have beautiful hair and are ling lasting. I actually have 3. My most recent is Laura. Laura is an upgrade with a new face lol! She’s great quality and looks the part that’s for sure.

5.      Ring light diffuser

Sticking with the theme of content creation as this is something I am working on upleveling in my business right now, I’ve been using a diffuser sock for my ring light. Inexpensive and the purpose is to soften the light to give more of a flattering finish to videos and photos.

 Fave book recs

I don’t mean to get all book club on you but there’s nothing like a good new book on the night-stand!

Here’s my top 5

1.      Mel Robbins, Let Them

Mel Robbins has recently come out with a book highlighting a super simple concept that just hit with me. The Let Them Theory. You know those things we can’t control in life that annoy us? It’s about actively letting them go. Like I said, it is such a simple idea but one I’m sure a lot of us, definitely myself included, need a reminder on. I loved learning about all of the different situations I could use this theory in too, it really did give me new found sense of freedom.

2.      The Coffin Confessor

This was wild! Have you ever heard of this? Literally a man who has made a business of speaking from the dead. Let me explain – He meets with people before they pass and carries out any wishes they have that they couldn’t carry out themselves when they were alive for whatever reason. This one had me in a hold, I couldn’t put it down.

3.      Matthew Perry, Friends lovers and the big terrible thing

I actually went back and listened to it as an audio book and think I preferred it. Hearing Matthew’s voice taking me through the story added even more weight, was a little eerie too as I read it after he passed. Was interesting to hear all of his challenges amidst Friends being formed and filmed. It was a sad story, especially knowing how it really ends but definitely interesting.

4.      James Clear, Atomic Habits

I loved this book on building good habits into your life. What really resonated is the concept of votes. Here is a direct quote from the book “Every action you take is a vote for the type of person you wish to become. No single instance will transform your beliefs, but as the votes build up, so does the evidence in your new identity.”

5.      Matthew McConaughey, Green Lights

This was such an entertaining read. This is another one I also listened to on audio book. Matthew is such a great story-teller. I actually listened to this one on a plane and am sure the people around me were mildly concerned for my well-being. I laughed, I cried and everything in between. It was a journey and such a great read.
